Jenny Wiley Here We Come

As we do almost every year now of a least
the last 10 years, we headed out to
Jenny Wiley State Park in Ky. We have
invited John's parents to go with us and they
have gone also. They usually stay in the lodge
there at the park, but this year decided to stay
with us in the camper.
We had a great time. Played a lot of cards, which
my dear husband managed to loose every game,
which is not like him, so we had to raze him about.
We went and saw Cinderella on Sat. night, at the
outdoor theatre that they have. The play was
very good, we had seen it a few years ago with
a different cast. We really like to go and see the
different performances they put on there. We
recommend it to anyone who likes outdoor
performances. The also have line dancing up on
their dance pad which the kids use to love to go to
when they were younger. We missed that this
year due to rain and going to the Theatre.
We decided to try something different and see how
it would turn out, so I made some doughnut dough
and we made fresh doughnuts for Sat. afternoon.
They were suppose to be for breakfast but we didn't
anticipate the dough to take as long to rise so we had
them for a snack before lunch. They actually turn out
great. We did them in the dutch oven over the fire.
So I'm sure this is something we will do again.
Next time I'll know to set the dough out earlier. This is a
picture of the 4 that were left for the next morning.
John just had to see how full he could get the doughnuts
before they burst. They were yummy!!

4th of July at the Westermeyers

Every year now for who know how many years
the Compston's and Westermeyers have
gotten together on the 4th of July. As the
families grow and have their own families we
seem not to have as many come. Some starting their
own traditions and others not able to be there
because of distance, or work.
This year we celebrated the 4th on the 3rd.
We still had around 23 of us there. We missed
everyone that couldn't be there.
We had a great time visiting, and of course eating.
If any of you know that group, it's eating the minute
you get there till practically the time you leave.
There was the playing of corn hole, which the younger
ones tried to get in on, also later in the day some of
them got out the paddle boat and went out on the
pond. Grandpappy was finally able to get Braeden
to go out with him, he was a little afraid that the fish
would jump up in the boat with him.
They feed the fish and enjoyed that, the fish were
on the large size.
A good time was enjoyed by all. Tara and the grand kids
were able to make it so that was a wonderful surprise.
It is always good to see everyone, but we did miss all of
you who couldn't make it.
