Waterfalls and Snow in the Smokies

A couple of weeks ago John and I decided
to meet in the Smokies at our cabin so
that he wouldn't have to come as far.
This is one of my favorite places to be,
so I left here on a Thursday afternoon and got
there just as it was getting dark. John
arrived at around 2:00 am. There was a
winter storm warning on Friday starting
at 3:00 pm, so we decided that if we
were to get in any hiking we better
get out Friday morning or we may not
get to go. So we set off to try to get
a little hiking in. We drove up to
Laurel Falls. It is a little over a mile
hike back to the falls. This is not our first
time back there, but the falls was really
flowing, more water than either of us could
remember in a while. It is so peaceful on
those walks, not to many people out since
they were calling for the storm. Pretty much
had it all to ourselves.

We were snowed in on Friday night and opted
not to go out and even try it on Sat. So we just
stayed in and enjoyed the cabin, John made
a fire and of course we hit the hot tub a few
times. On Sunday we decided to venture
out and at least just go driving. This is a few
pictures of a trail that we took, there were alot
of trees down all aver I think because of all the
rain, they had been up rooted.

We also headed out toward Cades Cove, to do
a drive through, thought that the views would
be awesome with the snow. Others didn't think
we should be back there, they had the road closed,
so we decided to just walk back a ways. Of course
we didn't walk all the way back, only a couple of
miles.

The beauty of the earth is in abundance.

Back Home

After being with our family, we came
back home and enjoyed our tree for
a few more days before I took it
down last week. Yes, I did put up
some of our decoration even though
we were going to be gone over Christmas,
so that we could enjoy them for a while.
We did miss John William and John III during
Christmas and hopefully we can get together
with them soon. We Love them very much
and miss getting to see them. We know you
had a great time with the family you did get
to spend Christmas with. For everyone that we
did not get to see, We love you and Missed not
being able to spend that time with you, hopefully
we will get to get together soon.

Time in Columbus !!!

I was able to go to Columbus to visit Donna for
a week, it was the weekend so Braeden went
with us also and Donna took him back home
on Monday. So I got to spend a little more
time with him.

While at Donna's I hurt my back and could hardly
move on Sat. and Sun. So guess who got to play
nurse maid, that's right Donna and Braeden,
and they did a great job. Just to get to the
bathroom wasn't a easy job. So as you can see
in the pictures I wasn't a ton of fun those day's.
We did get to go out on Tuesday and bought
Donna a computer. Not to say that it was easy
to stand very long then. We did get a few things
done at her house toward the end of my time
there and we also did go out to the movies while
I was there also, which has been a long time
since I've been to the movies, not anything
that seemed to be of much interest. So my time
at Christmas was spent with family, people we
Love and I had a great time.

Christmas in New Carlisle !!

On Monday after having Christmas I was able
to go to Dayton and spend the week with Kristy,
Travis and Braeden, so we had their Christmas
then. These are pictures of Kristy, with help
from Braeden opening their gifts. No pictures
of Travis as he was also taking pictures. Braeden
got to open his present in Cincinnati.

Braeden loves to build things, so he and his Mom
got in the floor and built a community with his
Lincoln logs.

During the week that I was there, Kristy and I were
able to do a few things for their wedding. On Monday
after she picked me up in Cincinnati we stopped
by David's Bridal and she ordered her dress. Of
course she looked beautiful in it. We also went out
and started their bridal registry at Bed, Bath, and
Beyond. Things seem to be moving along with the
Wedding plans. I had a great time with them, we
may not get to see each other a lot but Kristy calls
almost everyday so we do get to talk to each other
often. We love you guys very much.

Christmas in Cincinnati !!!

On Jan 1st, we had our family Christmas in
Cincinnati. Kristy had to work, but Donna was
able to bring Braeden down for the festivities.
We had a great time David and Tammy were
not able to be there and we missed them. I think
there were 23 of us there.
